Short story:

Hibuse was a samurai loyal to the Emperor of Rakusha. His lover Momoko was caught the emperor's fancy and the emperor attempted to sexually harass Momoko after a supper party. Momoko was reluctant to be the imperial concubine and she yelled. Hibuse heard her voice and recused her from the harassment. The Emperor was extremely furious and he wanted to kill them. Finally, Hisbuse and Momoko escaped from the palace and they hid inside a forest at the border of the Kingdom Hannya. Since then, Hibuse and Momoko are married and their daughter Nana was born 1 year later. Hibuse raises his family by hunting and trading fur with the cross-border trader. Unfortunately, a greedy trader recognized Hibuse and he reported to the Emperor for reward. Hence, Momoko and Nana were killed by the army, only Hibuse survives and he was rescued by a blind, old Hannya farmer. Hibuse felt desperate and he drunk day by day. After the Massacre of Hannya, Princess Hannya found Hibuse's location and she wants to recruit Hibuse for her avenge. Now, Hibuse know the reason why he was surived.
